Statement of Solidarity with the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC)

The undersigning organisations, part of the global movement for climate justice, express their unwavering solidarity with the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC) following the raid, the detention of agricultural workers who were on the premises, violent destruction, and theft carried out by Israeli occupying forces against its offices and property. This attack is not an isolated incident, but part of a long-standing strategy to dismantle Palestinian civil society, target community-rooted institutions, and criminalise those defending land, food sovereignty, and the right of a people to live with dignity.

For decades, UAWC has been a pillar of Palestinian resistance through agroecology, indigenous seed preservation, collective farming, and community resilience. These are forms of resistance grounded in life, care, and self-determination. Their repression reveals the nature of the colonial system Palestinians face: a system that fears farmers as much as it fears organisers, students, journalists, or human rights defenders, because all of them keep alive the possibility of liberation.

We condemn this assault as an act of occupation piracy and an extension of Israel’s ongoing genocide and ecocidal destruction across Palestine. Attacking those who cultivate food systems, protect land, and regenerate ecosystems is part of the same machinery that destroys farmland in Gaza, uproots olive groves in the West Bank, and weaponises hunger as a tool of domination.

As global climate justice and decolonial organisations, we reject the repression of all forms of Palestinian resistance, including those advancing sustainable food systems and community-controlled energy. A just transition cannot coexist with apartheid, siege, or military occupation. Climate justice demands the protection of land defenders and farmers, and it requires dismantling the structures of extraction, dispossession, and militarised energy systems that sustain Israeli colonial violence.

We call on movements, states, and institutions worldwide to act:

• Condemn the attack on UAWC and demand the immediate release of agricultural workers and the return of all confiscated property
• Protect Palestinian civil society organisations from criminalisation and political repression
• Recognise that food sovereignty and climate justice are inseparable from the struggle for Palestinian liberation
• End all forms of complicity, including the energy, fuel, and extractive supply chains that enable Israel’s ongoing violations of international law.

The raid on UAWC is an attack on farmers, on land, on the right to resist, and on the future of a sovereign, climate-resilient Palestine. We stand firmly with UAWC and with all Palestinian communities defending life in the face of colonial violence.
