Turkey Crude Oil Exports
Turkey is a significant crude oil supplier to Israel, despite public tensions and rhetorical criticism. The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, operated by BP, SOCAR, ENI and others, delivers an estimated 30 to 40 percent of Israel's crude through the port of Ceyhan, providing Israel with critical energy security and stable fuel supplies the colonial infrastructure of the military and settlements. This trade operates quietly, shielded from public scrutiny despite its strategic importance.
WHAT WE DO
We work with various groups like Energy Embargo for Palestine, on public awareness and grassroots mobilisation which challenge these economic ties.The campaign in Turkey is led by the Energy Embargo for Palestine, a group dedicated to targeting BP and its supplies through the BTC pipeline. GEEP supports the EEFP with messaging and comms, including through raising the profile of these shipments at fora such as the COP and the Fossil Fuel Treaty Conference. Through the work at No Harbour for Genocide, GEEP targets shipping companies and maritime infrastructures which are involved in these transfers.
Turkey is also preparing to host COP31, creating a direct contradiction between its role as a climate summit organiser and its function as a fossil logistics hub sustaining Israel's genocidal economy. We are part of a Arab-wide climate justice and anti-war coalition to challenge Turkish oil exports which sustain Israeli genocide and contradict Turkey's regional positioning and domestic public sentiment.
